Startling Facts About Bible School Students In Honduras

They c0me by horse, by canoe, and on foot . . . only to sleep under a tree!

We are launching a new project…and I am very excited about this work! All the ingredients are here to make a huge impact as we come alongside missionaries Mike and Jess Brown in Honduras. All that is missing in this fantastic ministry…is a place for students to be trained. That’s where you come in!

Bible school students throughout Honduras come by horse, by canoe, and on foot! Yet, when they arrive, they have no place to study, eat, or sleep. This project provides a place where they will be trained to take the Gospel to their indigenous communities.

the need

This two-story Bible institute will house ten classrooms, a dormitory with bathrooms and showers, an open-air kitchen and cafeteria, and a tech school for vocational training.

Currently, 67 students endure an arduous trek through the mountains of Honduras to get from their homes to their place of study. Once the Honduras Transformation Project is completed, up to 200 students will have a place to call home for their week-long blocks of intensive study. They will have a classroom in which to study (rather than sitting on the ground outside) while they soak up eight hours of instruction at a time. They will be provided three meals a day (rather than only what they were able to carry in their pack) along with a place to eat.

Most importantly, they won’t have to worry about sleeping under a tree because they will now have a dorm room to sleep each night in comfort and security. These students will get quality training from accredited professors, as well as practical experience to take back to their indigenous communities and transform them with the Gospel.

Meet The MISSIONARIES

Meet The MISSIONARIES

Mike Brown began his service with the U.S. Navy at age 17. Four years later, he began working as a general contractor. He was on a scissor lift, thirty feet in the air, when everything changed! That is the moment when he felt God calling him into missions. He went home and told his wife, Jess, and their kids…they all confirmed they felt the same call of God!

From that moment, God continued to perform miracle after miracle for the Brown family. They raised their missionary budget, then went to language school to study Spanish. Once they were well into their studies, they found a mistake had been made in their budget, and they would be short-funded. They stepped out in faith that God would provide, and moved to their mission field. God has continually provided what they need.

Not long after, their son severely injured his back and had to have emergency surgery. This particular surgery required a long recovery and rehab to re-learn how to walk. But, God! In a miracle moment, their son got up and walked around the room, and hasn’t stopped since!

The Brown family’s first mission assignment was in El Salvador, where they helped both missionaries Kenton Moody and Don Triplett with construction projects. Because of Mike’s background and experience in construction and contracting, he knows his stuff!

They are now doing an incredible work in Honduras, truly making a difference and impacting eternity. They need partners to come alongside and help fund this project, as well as help bring teams to build hope in Honduras!
