Vision Trip!

Experience “Perpetuate the Promise” in person!
Every missionary starts their ministry with a great sense of their personal mission to do something big for God. They are people of promise. Their willingness to follow their calling to difficult places in needy areas promises to be the basis for what God will do through them in the years ahead. Yet, global missionaries are some of the most stressed people in the world. Their calling propels them to some of the most difficult places and in the world, often in adverse circumstances. Coupled with this reality are the pressures of raising personal financial support, raising families, cultural adjustment, language acquisition, inter-personal challenges among their peers and leaders and much more. Moreover, they frequently experience emergent challenges demanding immediate responses from their leadership to assist them. There is a routine necessity to come alongside missionaries to “perpetuate the promise” of their consequential callings.
The Assemblies of God’s World Missions regions of Africa and Europe are working together to develop The Garden House in Malaga, Spain to serve their 842 missionary units in those regions. The Garden House is a 3+ acre rural property near Malaga on Spain’s beautiful Mediterranean coast. The Garden Respite House will provide accommodations for up to five missionary units at a time.
For more than three decades, Missionaries Keith and Christy Jones have served as Assemblies of God missionaries in a closed region. They know and understand the rigors of being an effective long-term missionary family. The Jones’ have personally been through the fire of trials and personal crises in their lengthy ministry. Because of their experience missionaries have informally sought their friendship and mentorship. Additionally, Assemblies of God World Missions leaders recognized the Jones’ effectiveness in leading missionaries toward recovery and wholeness. As a result of this, European Regional Director Larry Henderson together with Africa Regional Director Greg Beggs have asked Keith and Christy to lead The Garden House serving the vast Assemblies of God missions community.

Keith and Christy have been specifically trained to debrief and encourage needy missionaries. These families will benefit from intense debriefing, counseling, prayer support, endurance resources, rest and a fresh outlook for their unique and challenging ministries in their target area. The priority of The Garden House is to restore missionaries in their personal lives and to return them to their calling toward continued effectiveness in their calling.
The Garden House will also have access to local assets and partner agencies in and around Malaga, Spain who will be able to provide specialized resources to enhance the experience for each client. Moreover, they will be able to respond to large scale emergent events requiring missionaries be evacuated from troubled areas.

The Garden House has already purchased two plots of land on which there are two homes, the largest of which will be able to accommodate up to five families at a time. The second home will serve as the residence for The Garden House Leaders.
The Jones’ have a cogent sequential plan to develop this property. They are currently receiving work teams who are working on the interior structure, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, an exterior wall around the property, interior design and the grounds work on the property.
It is estimated that $275,000 is needed to complete The Garden House in addition to the “sweat equity” being invested by the work teams. To that end churches and personal donors are encouraged to “perpetuate the promise” of Assemblies of God missionaries in Europe and Africa.
Builders International is hosting vision trips to The Garden House in Malaga, Spain to expose pastors and missions leaders to their important and effective work. Assemblies of God churches together with business leaders and individual saints will be blessed to partner with this amazing project that is ministering to missionary families in their strategic regions.
