Team Testimony - Laura’s Story
When Laura Yarbrough from Crossroads Church in Houston, Texas, led a SheBUILDS team to Chile in June 2025, she expected a meaningful experience—but what happened far exceeded her expectations.
Several of the 14 ladies on the team had heard about missions all their lives—but being there, on the ground and serving side by side with the local church, changed everything. “Seeing it made it real and left a lifelong impact,” Laura shared.
For her daughter, Delaney, it was a breakthrough moment as she stepped into a leadership role and blossomed. For Kaleigh, one of the seven ladies who were on their first-ever missions trip, it was the beginning of a calling. “She caught the bug for missions!” Laura exclaimed.
They served alongside our missionary partners Jim and Esther Mazurek, whose deeply established vision for the local church and thoughtful legacy planning inspired everyone. “It was such a gift to work with Pastor Jim and Esther and Builders,” Laura said. She was especially moved by the strength of the local church—not only firmly rooted in the community but sending out their own missions teams to neighboring countries.
From the start, this SheBUILDS team surpassed expectations. What should have taken an entire week was completed in just one day!
“We just kept working and we got a lot more done than anyone expected. The people were so glad we were there; we built genuine relationships,” Laura shared excitedly!”
Reflecting on the experience, Laura shared a verse that perfectly captured the heart of the trip:
I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees You. – Job 42:5
“This wasn’t just a project—it was eye-opening, heart-shaping, and legacy-building.”
And yes—Laura is already planning to return. “We need to go back… we will go back.”
Laura stepped out and led a team—and lives were changed!
